Well,CR amigos, Bill finally let the cat out of the bag. Actually we did this last weekend. Me on my website and Bill here in his forums. What I'm talking about is the news that Twilight Star Studio has given me my own comic title. RON FORTIER'S TALES OF THE MACABRE. An on-going black and white anthology comic stories featuring stories by me and art by some of the most talented artists in comics today.
What we had been keeping under wraps was the cover to issue #1. But as of today, Bill posted this on his Hell Yeah forum, so figured I'd follow suit. These pencils are by my good buddy, Rob Davis and the logo is by Mark Maddox. And if you don't recognize the handsome fellow in the Airship 27 top hat, shaem on you.

Hahahahaha, Uncle Creepy is exactly what I was going for, Mark, in a Wilford Brimly approach....
Hopefully my true friends will see this for the simple fun and silliness of it all. To you good people, I say Thank You. I truly hope you'll like the finished product. This has been a blast to put together. This post has been edited by Ron Fortier: Jan 13 2011, 09:07 AM |

Just wanted to point out that Ron's partner in crime...Mr. Rob Davis is also on this cover (and he was trying to be sneaky)
He's the other gentleman in the top hat and glasses. -------------------- "Reality is only for those who lack imagination" don't know who first said that....but it works for me!

I wondered if anyone would notice I'd put myself in there too... Good catch, G-man! *** Rob Davis *** |

Thanks for posting this up, Brant. If I'd done it, would have been too small for everyone here to appreciate what the art team did here. I'm still in awe at just how cool it all came out. My granddaughter Cora is bugging me to have posters made up. Ha.

I like it and no worries about you coming off too pretentious. To me, this is much like the classic Horror books/television no much dissimilar to that of Tales From The Crypt, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and so forth. I actually noticed Rob on the cover and thought it was cool. Congrats to all involved with this project.

Thanks, Tim. It's pretty much as I figured, you and all my "true" friends have been totally supportive of this project. Which means a whole lot to me.
I'm having a blast writing up these short stories. And if I didn't say it before, issue # 1 is filled with 5 stories, and issue # 2 is already filled up, though I don't recall the number of tales in that one. And now I busy writing new ones for the third issue. Yahooo. |

Here's exactly what will be in the first issue of this new Twilight Star series.
Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #1 Story #1-Bomb Sight Story #2-The Diner Story #3-Grass Roots Story #4-Dragnet Story #5-Catching The Bus That's quite of a collection of great stories with some really talented artists, inkers, and letterers...plus Ron writing EVERY story. Story#1 is still being drawn and inked...and will later have to lettered. This story will also run in Tales From The 'Field # 4 before running in Ron Fortier's Tales Of The Macabre Story#4 -the last three pages of art are currently being inked and then this too will need lettered-this story appears in the very next issue of Tales From The 'Field #3...which is almost finished! Story#5-is ready to be lettered and is the only "exclusive" story in this issue, never ran in any other Twilight Star book...except in issue #1 of this new series. Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #2 will feature three stories. Story#1-Uncle Nichaoulus Story#2-Black Armor, Black Magic Story#3-The Lonely Guy Due to the lengths of stories # 1 and #3 both of these stories are more than likely to run for the first time anywhere in issue #2 of the series. Story #2 may run in a future issue of Pandemonium Spotlight.....there's also the possibility EVERY story in issue #2 will run for the very first time in that book! I've no idea what the Captain has lined up for issue #3 but....I'm show he has something up that sleeve of his! Okay, as this book was officially released over the weekend at the first ever Derby City Con, and will soon be available at (www.IndyPlanet.com) I thought you'd all like to see a peek at the cover-in-progress for issue number two. It is being done by Canadian artist Olivier Raymond who had a story in issue one.
Enjoy. Next time you see it, it will look a whole lot different, oh yeah.
