Ok, so the trailer is now out, what does everyone think?

Me, I'm still disappointed, but not quite as disappointed. Rogen is Rogen in this film, cutting jokes, being a loser that others make look good, etc. as he has always been in every movie he's done. Kato is the star here.

That said, the action looks cool, the cinematics are decent, so while I won't rush out to see this one, I don't think it will be as bad as we feared.

It's nothing like the television series and it's nothing like Ron's run, therefore I honestly want nothing to do with it.

They are making it campy and not at all like the core concept.

I'm calling this Green Hornet movie a disaster from square one. Seth Rogen made a career playing comedy slackers and the takes that same persona to a man who is supposed to be a brilliant, distinguished publisher who, when his father is murdered, vows to fight crime and corruption.
And what do we get, a buffoon who thinks it would be cool to fake out the bag guys by posing as bad guys, but ..."..we're really the good guys." Duh.
By far the dumbest movie scripted line I have ever heard. But it fits Rogen all the way. Dumb.
And he gassed himself with the gas gun. That's not even comedy, its slapstick.
Sorry, Brant, I'm with Eric. You guys go spend your hard earned pennies on this turkey, then tell us how you were ripped off. Me, I'm avoiding it like the plague.

Probably no great surprise, but I'm with you all the way Ron! I grew up listening to the old Green Hornet radio dramas (no, I'm not that old, just had an unusual upbringing) and this is most definitely NOT a fit for the picture I have in my head of what the Green Hornet should be like. I'm all for comedic parody... but not when the comedic parody is apparently all I'm ever going to get. If they want to make this movie, call it the Emerald Waspinator or something... don't illigitimize an otherwise distinguished concept for the sake of a few laughs (and being that its Rogen, "a few" is probably all that we will get).

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I specifically said I wasn't going to go see this, just said I don't think it's as bad as we, or at least I, thought it was going to be based on the trailer. Not saying I've changed my mind, I think I was very clear in stating that I hate Seth Rogen and this looks like more of the same of his brand of humor. I may watch it on rental or on HBO if it goes there, but I'm not going to the theater to see it.

First minute showed potential promise, ie the guy who is literally throwing his life away, partying until the dawn, leading a dull existence. Then after that...ugh.
The guy who plays Kato says more with a nod and a look than Rogen ever could, but his poor english hampers his acting, which is a pity, because there is potential.
Then Cameron Diaz shows up...and boy, has her partying caught up with her!

Knight and Day looks to be a flop, not as bad as Jonah Hex, but bad, but I doubt GH will do her any favours. The use of wire fu in this film looks annoying, and has no explanation either. The gas gun scene...to be honest, I almost expected a stoner joke from Rogen.

I had promise when I saw the first minute of the trailer, but I can see that all of the production problems were not dealt with, and the script needed tightening up, a spit and a polish, and more intelligence and respect for the series. I wonder if the GH comic books will continue despite this bad movie. I mean, the film looks to be utilising all of the Superhero movie cliches since the movies began. Some more work would have been great.
Humor should be present in a film, I feel, even Nolan uses it in his movies, and it works, because it never drowns out the movie or the serious tone of the film.

Humor in a film like this is to relieve tension and needs to be used sparingly. The light levity in movies like Iron Man and even Dark Knight works as we laugh "with" the hero, not at him...which will be the case with Rogen. Really sad. The Green Hornet deserved lots better.

It reminds me far too much of the proposed Green Lantern movie with Jack Black. There are a few occassions in the Iron Man and Batman Begins/ Dark Knight, where we laugh at the hero, but there is nothing on this level. It is far more subdued, like cracking every single egg in an egg carton which you intended to use to make omelettes. Not laughing at them because they're such a doofus. Even when laughing at Iron Man or Batman, we know they are learning from their experiments, and there is humour to be found in experiments.

Two words...LOOKS STUPID. Sorry.

Right, I couldn't agree more. The initial flight test in Iron Man is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in an action movie. That kind of humor is appropriate for this kind of material. Making a farce out of something that so many people love though... that's a little less appropriate. It does a disservice to everyone who worked so hard to make The Green Hornet so great and enduring, present company included. I have never said this before and may never say it again... hopefully I will never have cause to... but I would rather let Uwe Boll direct this movie than have Seth Rogen in any way associated with it. At least Boll seems to respect the source material... even if he lacks the talent to follow through.

Knowing how close you once were to the property Ron I really hate to see this being done. Especially after all the hard work you guys have done and what Phil Hester/Kevin Smith /Matt Wagner and the artists are doing right now.

Just like Frank Miller's Spirit, this is the slap in the face to the people who worked hard on the property.

I am slightly offended that this is how they treat the source material. It's a huge joke, and it should be taken more serious. I guess Seth just saw that one crossover episode of Batman and Robin and assumed this is how Green Hornet should be. I wonder if even knows about its origin?

Remember that really cool speculative trailer from a couple of years ago? Why didn't they go with those guys? I mean, really...

Ok as a new guy to Green Hornet I completely agree with a lot of you guys. Seth Rogan was never set to be a super hero and should have never been casted for this part plain and simple and its a little sickening

I may be the only one.... But im looking forward to it. Trailer looks good. Now, with that said, I know nothing of the Green Hornet back story, or history. Im looking at this as a "new" idea/movie. I certainly know some of the history, with Bruce Lee, but that would be about all It seems to me they nailed that aspect down pretty well.

What's weird about Seth Rogen to me is that I've been reading Stephen King's "Under the Dome" and see Seth Rogen as the "Physician's Assistant Eric 'Rusty' Everett" character in my mind as I'm reading. Who knows, when the time comes for him to branch out, he might be a good dramatic character actor, if he has any real talent.

Even though this trailer is slightly more impressive than I expected, I had and still have zero interest in seeing this movie. And it's nothing to do with how true or distant it is to the source material -- either way could end up with something positive. I just can't watch Seth Rogan because I can't watch stupid characters be glorified for their stupidity.

I miss both Bruce and Brandon both were extremely talented and died way too young.

don't care to see this, looks like "Pineapple Express" with Kato instead of James Franco. This is not the direction I was hoping they we're going to take with this film, I would like to see Rogan as the character we know not the one he always plays, I wonder how much of this is literal typecasting. Where the producers said "hey this guy makes a ton of box office draw making these kinds of movies, super hero movies make a ton of money, go get us a script like that to invest 100+ million on and several million more in promotion and advertising." And if it tanks they can always say "hey this shouldn't have happened don't fire me, people love this guy doing this stuff in a dozen other movies."

No Sir...I don't like it, thanks again Hollywood production system for your wonderful market research and focus group film making. I am off to find a copy of the Batman episode from the 60's where the Green Hornet and Kato did a cross over... more realistic.

It's like someone just saw that one scene in DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY and said, "Yeah! That's it. Kato is the super kick-butt guy and Brit is the "What's happening?" doofus. Let's make it like THAT".

While I don't loathe Seth Rogen ... I do think he is very one note. His acting skills are that of a high school kid in a play.

They could have done something very cool with this... a 1930s or 40s period pic would have been sweet.

Was the theater this afternoon and cringed when I saw the Green Hornet trailer come on. I just sat there and kept my mouth shut...only to hear my wife gasp and then mutter, "That is so stupid." She then put her hands on mine and said, "Sorry, dear."
AMEN. SORRY is what best describes this thing.

It would be nice to start a boycott campaign. If i had the time I'd start one on Facebook.

No need. Fans, and audiences, can spot a stinker a mile away, and if they cannot, negative word of mouth will fill them in (eg The Matrix sequels, Godzilla, Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer). Just look at Catwoman, or Godzilla. I sincerely doubt that the movie will be getting enough positive reviews to warrant a sequel, nobody will wish to see it.

I wonder did some hollywood exec look at the scrapped Green Lantern project involving Jack Black, a fat comedian, and think "Hey, this project is also called Green something, we should hire another fat comic relief to play the lead, and be a doofus."

Completely disappointed with what the creators have come up with. This is another "Rush Hour" with masks. I personally hate Ryan Renolds (Green Lantern) but would much rather see him play Britt Reid than Seth Rogen? I have been a Green Hornet fan via the TV series in the early 70's and I say this movie is going to be a disservice to the Green Hornet series and comics.

I was hoping for a more sinister theme such was Batman begins. The gadgetry surrounding the Black Beauty is limitless. Recapturing and capitalizing on the martial arts with some creative hand to hand combat scenes would have brought the martial arts fans running to theaters, such did Bruce Lee in the 60's. I pictured Britt Reid as the Green Hornet with bright lime green eyes behind the black mask, expressionless, like that of Dr. Manhattan in the Watchmen.

Many Hornet fans are disappointed, I say fill the blogs and forums speak out!

Alright, so I watched this via a Netflix rental, my one vice. I wanted I Am Number Four, but there was a "very long wait" for it according to the site. I had Green Hornet in my queue as a "just in case what I want isn't in" option, so it came and I watched it last night.

The only, and I mean only good thing I can say about it is some of the fight scenes were pretty cool.

As an adaptation of Green Hornet, aside from Black Beauty, it failed on every level. This is nowhere near the Brit Reid or even the Kato fans know and love, so if you can't separate it from that stay far, far away.

I also tried to view it as just a movie, but not being a Rogen fan to begin with that made it hard. There were a couple of funny moments, but for the most part it was the same lame crap Rogen is known for, which was very disappointing. The villains were satirical at best, the "hero" was completely unlikeable from the word go to the word stop, no redemption whatsoever, and what few moments of cool action or humor present were overshadowed by meaningless supporting roles, terrible script and, well, Rogen.

Rogen fans, I'm sure, loved it. Everyone else, not so much.
