Ferryman #1
With surreal art and a story that combines the ultra-violence of Blood Bowl with the spirituality of Hellblazer, Marc Andreyko's new series Ferryman is one that you shouldn't miss.
The first issue, which was released Wednesday, follows the exploits of a Ferryman, essentially an errand boy for the devil who collects on unspecified "debts." His job is to bring people--in this case a wealthy CEO--to Satan, still alive, so that they can be "collected." The twist at the end of the story--that our hero doesn't want to do it anymore--is not only a surprise but also something that sets the stage for a very interesting miniseries in a way that five issues of gory soul-collection really wouldn't. Check this out now, or feel silly when people are talking about it later.

Who are The Ferrymen? If you mix the deadliest qualities of Blackwater operatives, skip tracers and expert trackers, you might have an idea. And Gideon Thorne is the best Ferryman out there. In the exclusive employ of the sinister entrepreneur Mr. Webster, Gideon always gets his man, no matter the obstacle.
