William Hurt on his role... In Hulk. General Ross, father of the paramour of Bruce, so-called nemesis of The Hulk. Wants Hulk's power but is humiliated by Hulk's conscience. He actually sees and occasionally recognizes that it's more developed than his own, even though he's a patriot and a warrior for his country, has sacrificed immensely for that purpose, but at the expense of — at times all of his humanity, which he occasionally recovers glimpses of. Interesting, you know. Collider, 2/9/08 [link]
Ed Norton on the film... “This is in no way a response to it or picking up from it. I think like Chris Nolan and those guys did with Batman, we just said: ‘We’re going to start completely with our own version of this myth or saga.’” Norton reportedly turned down the role of The Incredible Hulk a few times until he was able to rewrite the script. Talking of the upcoming film and future releases he said the story will likely span more than one film. “To me the whole thing was to envision it in multiple parts,” he said. “We left a lot out on purpose. It’s definitely intended as chapter one.” - The Dish, 1/24/08 [link]
While this movie does hit the proverbial reset button, it skips the traditional origin story and opens with Banner on the run from the authorities for five years, hiding from the law while searching for a cure for his gamma irradiated affliction. Fans of Bruce Jones’ run on The Incredible Hulk comic will find a lot to love, as the film has a very similar tone with Bruce seeking solace through meditation and yoga, and, under the guise of “Mr. Green”, communicating covertly with a “Mr. Blue”, who seemingly has clues, which may lead to the elimination of Bruce’s alter ego. - Comics2Film, 12/18/07 [link]
Tim Roth on the Abomination - "I just literally wrapped last week, and it was such fun," he said, "I'm bloody tired by the way. From being in the action stuff, I don't know how the hell they do it, people like Bruce Willis. They must have great stunt doubles. I had three of them! My god, and I was so happy when they were working!" He was a bit more cagey when asked how involved he has been with the CG in terms of creating Blonsky's "Abominable" counterpart and whether he's been doing motion capture type stuff for it. "You'll find out. (We're doing) all kinds." - SuperHeroHype, 12/3/07 [link]
Louis Letterrier on villains - "It's a fresh start because I saw there is a real fan base for Ang Lee's movie," said Leterrier. "I didn't want to offend [those fans] in any way, and also I like the movie. It was very interesting. [But] it was weaker ground to build a big franchise upon so we decided to scrap it and establish it from bases that are more comic book-based and TV show-based." - SuperHeroFlix, 11/28/07 [link]
