Sam Tami discussing the director for Spider-Man 4 - "Because I love Spider-Man I would just say - I don't want to pick someone. I don't know if I'll be directing the picture or not, but I'd like to say that it would be somebody that was the best gift I could give to Spider-Man - someone who understands him and loves him and could bring his passion and love to the character." For me it’s hard to beat the Lizard, it truly is. That’s just me talking. I think the Lizard has got a great story of not only personal pain but also emotional pain, and trying to mask both of those, it’s a strong storyline. The Lizard has always been a favorite of mine, even before working on these movies. I’ve always liked Kraven The Hunter, but he’d have to be used selectively. For me though it would have to be the Lizard. - Producer Grant Curtis on villains for Spider-Man 4, If Magazine [link]
Tobey Maguire, who reprises the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man 3, told SCI FI Wire in February that he remained open to a fourth film, with reservations. This despite earlier reports that the third webslinger movie would be his last. Maguire is not contractually bound to do a fourth film. "Well, it's possible that we make another movie," Maguire said in an interview. "It all depends on if there's a story worth telling. I feel very proud of the three movies that we've made. I feel like the stories all deserve to be told, and, you know, if they come up with a good movie, and the whole team wants to get back together, and we feel like we can make a good movie that's worth making, then I'm up for it." - Sci-Fi Wire, 4/4/07 [link]
And we're hoping it's not too far down the line! I'll be trying to get on the Lizard costume when I'm 80. I just spent time with Alfred Molina [who played Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2], and we were both joking about that. But it's like these great characters, that are there in the comic books. And it's like, just open that door up… I'm ready to go! - Dylan Baker speaking with IGN, 1/23/07 [link]
