Publishers Blurb:

Setting up shop in Las Vegas, Nevada, Danica publicly offers to purchase anyone's soul for the sum of ten thousand dollars. Of course it doesn't take long before Heaven and Hell start to take notice of daily absentee's on their manifests and both sides start to push in on Danica's territory which leads to the trumpeting in of the first sign of the Apocalypse...War.

Danica, the daughter of Lucifer's first born son Damien, is mucking up the system. With the help of Mary Magdalene, among others, she is out to make a name for herself in the millenia old poker tournament between Heaven and Hell.

Reviewer Comments:

I recently had the pleasure of reading Thomas J Huthison's comic "Penny for your Soul".

This is a somewhat controversial title that bends genres (mainly religion) like nobody's business. By no means is this a bad thing, in fact it's an incredibly good thing. It's very refreshing to see a new take on things, and to see something so original be birthed from something so widespread. While reading this I couldn't help but think to myself "Tom is gonna get some hate mail for this". The fact of the matter is, there's some narrow minded people out there who are unwilling to open their minds and see a good fictional story for what it really is...a good FICTIONAL story.

This first issue wastes no time setting up the series, already by the end of the issue you can tell it's ready to delve deep into the action in the second issue. The issue made up for in great storytelling and visualisations for what it lacked in action. It explores various biblical characters and perfectly twists and turns them and applies them into the modern world. The writing is intelligent, well paced and maintains great dialogue throughout.

The visuals in this issue are just FANTASTIC for the lack of a better word, from everything to the character design, to the visual storytelling, to the set design. It all just fits perfectly. The pencils are just phenomenal and give this great story an enthusiastic sweep across the pages with such refinement. I love artwork that drops you into the story, making you feel like you are right among the action; this doesn't fail to do so.

My favourite aspect on the artistic side of things has to be the colours. They are just phenomenal, seriously! They take this book to a whole new level. They are vivid, detailed and surreal while maintaining a realistic feel to it. They capture the magic of this story perfectly while also capturing the magic of the city its set in.

My name's Liam Bradley and I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I've been a major comic fan since I was six years old and since then I've always wanted to create my own comics. I've recently been converted from a Marvel Zombie to an Indy Snob. I still love Marvel and DC stuff but most recently I've been picking up a lot of Indy titles. I'm currently scripting two projects right now, and toying with some ideas for a third and fourth project. I also do Indy reviews over at projectfanboy.
