Bruce Wayne's Return Detailed
Begins in April 2010

By Brant Fowler

In the pages of Final Crisis, we witnessed Bruce Wayne (Batman) being blasted with the powerful and mysterious Omega Effect by Darksied, the New God. We learned that this shot Wayne back through time, lost in the timestream, while in the present everyone believes him to be dead. His "death" has had a monumental impact on all of the DCU ever since, and Dick Grayson even took up the cowl to carry on the name of the Batman.

But beginning in April Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1 (of 6), from writer Grant Morrison, we will see Wayne struggle to get back to his own time, and it will take all the training and knowledge he's learned over the years to get him there.

In an interview with USA Today, Grant Morrison calls Return "...a fairly intricate time travel story in which the world's greatest hero, the optimum man, is up against the supreme challenge to his ingenuity and skill."

Morrison continues, "How does Batman get out of the ultimate trap? It has a mystery and an apocalyptic countdown going on, there are some major twists and reveals, and it sets up big changes to the Batman universe status quo."

The story starts out in the late-Paleeolithic era, according to Morrison, and will progress through various time periods inlcuding the Pilgrim-era, a Western era and one set in a noir-style period.
