A Word From One of the Creators
From the desk of Eric Ratcliffe
Wait, we on 60? Really? I apparently lost track again numbering wise, that's crazy. So anyways, let's see how much of this I can get through without actually picking on Megan Fox...I'm going to try my best.
Ash saves Obama is an actual 4 issue mini series comic. Not only that, but Obama only appears in about maybe 4 pages of the comic and Ash never saves him. In fact, Obama saves the day. I mean it's not a bad read, it's just marketed on a lie, which doesn't really surprise me coming from the company that published it. (Alright, that was a little catty on my part, but it's true! Also, I'm still bitter they cancelled the Army of Darkness book!)
Now, when it comes to the once lovely Megan Fox (No one tear me a new one for that, look up the pictures of her from the Jonah Hex premiere and tell me she's still attractive) she is one of those hollywood actresses that let Hollywood get to her and went under the knife. Last I checked there was absolutely nothing wrong with the girl...other than the fact that she can't act (Anyone make it entirely through Transformers 2? I made it 15 minutes before shutting it off). I just don't understand the fascination with turning a beautiful young woman into some sort of plastic freakshow when it's not needed.
But I guess I should turn this around by mentioning the young actresses who I find myself having actual crushes on. Top of the list is Aubrey Plaza of Parks and Recreation and who was just in Scott Pilgrim. She's funny, cute and isn't afraid to swear. Mary Elizabeth Winstead of Scott Pilgrim and Sky High fame is just a very beautiful and charming young actress. Tori Vega, who is on a Nickelodeon show, but manages to mix humor and talent perfectly. I like girls who can make jokes and understand comedy. Tom girl kind of girls. (I've really lost my point here haven't I?)
Oh! Anyone notice what Bill's reading? A magazine that used to actually have meaning in our industry. A magazine that had decided to call itself the #1 men's magazine at one point. A magazine that cares more about big movies than the comics it should really be covering. Yes, I'm talking Wizard. It's a miracle the thing is still alive and kicking. I used to read it all the time when I was younger and it wasn't a joke of what it once was. Wizard and Toy Fair were things I read religiously. If i'm not mistaken Wizard was where I first read about Hack/Slash and Dead@17. It helped Marvel launch the Sentry hoax and, like I said, was at one point something you could give to people to show how diverse the industry can be. Now? Now it's a joke and something I honestly think shouldn't exist anymore. It's been replaced by the internet and sites like Comic Related, Comic Alliance and Comic Book Resources as well as Bleeding Cool and maybe IO9.
So next week...what exactly is Eric doing with a ladder and why does it worry Bill? Find out in 7, folks!
