Site of the Month - September 2008 Selected by Site Creator Chuck Moore
Since December of 2005, on a monthly basis, we've been linking to sites we felt deserved an unsolicited pointer. Up until a few months ago, we simply posted a visual link on the main page of our site and on our links page. With July's selection, we expanded our Site of the Month feature to include a bit of commentary on why we feel the site stands out from the crowd.
AdHouse Books - http://www.adhousebooks.com/
AdHouse Books is the independent comic publishing creation of Richmond, Virginia based Chris Pitzer. Launched in 2002 and quickly emerging as a "boutique publisher" the company has garnered Ignatz and Eisner awards for it's high quality comic creativity and design.
Why was this site chosen as a Site of the Month?
In the four years that I've been doing this site, there have been a lot of publishers whose work has impressed me. Few have been so consistent in both challenging me as a reader asking me to re-imagine what comics can become as Chris Pitzer's AdHouse Books.
The company's attention to detail, strong presentation and knack for presenting interesting, talented creators has sold me on the comics and books they produce. There are few companies that I can say there's a strong likelihood I will purchase almost everything they produce. AdHouse currently holds that spot in my book and I thank Chris Pitzer for the work he's doing to see books published that deserve to be seen and, in some cases, might otherwise have languished.
From the art books to the anthologies to the ongoing stories, I read what AdHouse releases and I consistently want to read more. What more can you ask for from a comic publishing company? That is why I have selected them as our Site of the Month for September 2008 and, if you aren't already a reader, I invite you to visit their site and get to know them a bit better. |
