Site of the Month - October 2008

Selected by Site Creator Chuck Moore

Since December of 2005, on a monthly basis, we've been linking to sites we felt deserved an unsolicited pointer. Up until a few months ago, we simply posted a visual link on the main page of our site and on our links page. With July's selection, we expanded our Site of the Month feature to include a bit of commentary on why we feel the site stands out from the crowd.

Pop Culture Con
www.popculturecon.com

Pop Culture Con will join the convention circuit in 2009 as a new center of pop culture celebration and a growing destination event. Taking place in the Northern Kentucky - Cincinnati, Ohio area on September 18th - 20th, 2009 the show will debut at the Drawbridge Convention Center and promises to serve up a creator focused, comic centered, full on family friendly showcase of fun. Not to be missed and well worth marking your calendar now!

Why was this site chosen as a Site of the Month?

Five simple words... "I believe in this show!"

I will state quite publicly that I am personal friends with the show organizers and Comic Related already plans a massive representation at this event in 2009. I've even offered my help as a volunteer to help set up for it.

That said, even if Comic Related were not tied to the show through friendship, this would still be the kind of show that would win me as a supporter. The show organizers are working toward a bit of a hybrid with the event. It will be, first and foremost, a show for comic fans but it will also unveil a dual nature lurking just below the surface as it will offer comic creators a series of hands-on opportunities to improve their craft. From charity events tied to the show to innovative ways to explore the art of comics, this one will have it all!

Can you tell I'm excited?

You know the name Blue Line Pro... You know the name Sketch Magazine... You will soon know the name Pop Culture Con and I just hope that, as this show grows, you remember you heard about it here first!
